Some men are breathtaking. A glance at them and you can’t help but smile warmly in appreciation. Talk of clean face, hair on point and they smell real good, not to mention they dress well. Women are expected to be fully groomed, to which majority have adhered to, but most men have undervalued it.
There is a Swahili saying that says Chema chajiuza, kibaya chajitembeza (Che-ma cha-gee-uza, key-by yah cha-gee-te-mbe-za) which translates to: A good thing sells itself while a bad thing advertises. I believe by now you know where I’m headed with that, but I just want to state that these men I mentioned aren’t better than you, they have simply mastered grooming techniques which work to their advantage.
Just like how most men have a fetish for certain things in women, women too have a fetish for certain things in men, and I bet you good grooming is not overlooked.
Let’s get started with quick budget friendly tips that will help you to be on top of your game and improve your style and confidence
1. Shower daily
Showering every day in the morning will help jam start your day and keep you fresh, as you sweat during the night. Cold showers are mostly considered refreshing as they are less irritating to the skin for men with dry skin and time saving as you get out of there faster, hence get more time to do other quick touches.
2. Teeth care
As a general rule is important to brush your teeth every morning and if possible before going to bed. A Colgate smile is noticeable if you are really looking forward to scoring and should you run out of toothpaste unexpectedly, opt for baking soda as it almost does a good job. Mix ½ a teaspoon of baking soda with some water to make a slightly thick paste and use that to brush your teeth normally. It is also a good stain remover if kept for longer like 2 to 5 minutes.
3. Keep short Nails
There is something gross about a man having long unkempt nails. First of all, they look disgusting and they just collect a lot of germs. Cutting your nails is something that takes less than 10 minutes, and since the exercise does not usually yield uniform results, it doesn’t hurt to file and buff them to have a polished finish. Well-groomed nails are simply noticeable and sexy.
4. Body care
Basics for taking care of your body range from one individual to another. Instead of the conventional soap you can have a shower gel that appeals to your smell senses and a deodorant to keep you fresh and sweat free throughout the day. If you experience lots of sweating on your feet, there is a powder formulated for that purpose that you sprinkle before you wear socks. Ensure your feet don’t chase a potential admirer.
Nowadays men are embracing long beards. If you like it short, well and good. I think the shorter the beard the easier it is to maintain. Should you prefer a longer one, trimming it often gives it a cooler look unlike when left all loose. There is nothing attractive about facial hairs growing in different directions. Having a beard trimmer or a pair of scissors specific for beards and a comb for that will save you money and the many trips to the barbers, if you learn to it yourself. Conditioning your beards as you shower improves their texture and relieves itching. If you don’t have a conditioner, lotion can be used as a substitute.
I got to give it up to most men as they take their haircuts seriously. Getting a local barber who is experienced and understands your style is important. It is recommended to shave in the direction that hair grows. Washing your hair thrice a week will keep it clean and fresh looking without overdoing it. A shaving cream eases irritation and will keep bumps away. Should you run out of shaving cream, you can use cooking oil especially virgin Olive oil which very skin friendly.
7. Find your Signature Cologne
Jill Scott once mentioned, “I like a man who smells good. Puts on cologne; lotions his body. It keeps me wanting. I like feeling that way.” Without a doubt, that feeling applies to a majority of women. A wise man knows that Cologne is the most powerful weapon in the fight for women attention. That is not to say you over do it, just keep it subtle and sexy.
NB: If you want your scent to last longer, apply some Vaseline before wearing cologne. Warm areas of the body and pulse points are known to project scent more effectively. That is inner elbows, wrists, neck and the chest. Make use of these areas as you end up using less and the cologne lasts longer.
8. Maintain dry balls
I cannot stress this point enough, it doesn’t matter how fine you look, how smart you dress, how fine your skin looks, if you smell like shit and your balls stinky like a swamp. Let’s face it, some areas in the body need special attention and this is no exception. Unknown to most men, there is something called ball powder which keeps the areas surrounding your manhood clean, fresh and dry.
Avoid cancer causing ingredients like talc; aluminium chloride and menthol can cause irritation.
Baby powder is a big no, I don’t think a grown man want to smell like a baby.
