There are those occasions that call for you to dress up if you know what I mean. The sort of dressing that speaks volumes, be it in a social gathering or business meeting. I have often wondered how some people manage to pull some looks really well. From what i have observed, here are a few tips to bring out elegance and look amazing without breaking the bank.
When you invest in grooming, you generally look clean and put together. Take your time to do your hair or have a nice haircut, manicure and if you do make up ensure it is on point. These things play a role in complimenting your whole look.
It goes without saying, less is more. This also applies when it comes to creating that elegant look.Identify the essentials and eliminate the rest. Simplicity is key to elegance.Don’t sweat about it, embrace simple.
3. Match your Jewelry
Yes, matching your jewelry does bring out that look of elegance into play. For example, if you carry a handbag with a silver buckle, you can try putting on silver earrings or a silver chain. You can do a pearl chain with pearl earrings. I urge you to give this particular one a try and see the wonders it does on your entire look.
4. Wear fitting or rather flattering clothes
This one is big deal in my opinion, I love me clothes that hug my body and fit me well like a glove. Consider outfits that generally flatter your body type and wear fitting clothes that bring out your assets and hide your flaws. Having alterations on those outfits you love at your local tailor does the trick as well.
5. Same color or shades of the same color Outfits (Monochrome Colors)
From observation, you will agree with me that there are some shades of colors that just bring out elegance when combined together. This one is not for everyone but hey beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and so is elegance. Works for you….go for it.
Accessories flatter outfits and the wearer as well. When done well, you will be amazed at how it will make an outfit look like a million dollar. Hats, belts, Jewelry, watches, hair clips, just to mention but a few will add value to your outfit and compliment your entire look when done in moderation. Like we earlier mentioned, less is more. Don’t overdo it.
7. Wear colors associated with elegance.
Yes I said it, really? Yes, we can agree or disagree on this one but I must mention there are colors that when you put on, your being is elevated and you just feel expensive and noticeable. Talk of Red, White or off white, Army Green, Beige, grey, khaki. To take it a notch higher, you can do all red, all black, all white from head to toes.
8. Invest in your Handbags and shoes
A nice handbag or clutch bag could be all you need to achieve that elegant look. A simple pair of shoe could be all that is needed to compliment that outfit. More often than not, it could be both put together to bring out the entire look depending with the occasion and purpose.
9. Mind your shopping
When you go for shopping, look out for outfits that will compliment your body type. Just because it looks amazing on another person, does not mean it will look good on me. Study your body type and experiment to learn what works well and what does not. Consider stuff that can match a lot the things you already have, to avoid having a lot of things that you are never going to use.
10. Emulate or Follow the people you find elegant
Truth be told, there are those people we admire. It starts now, practice makes progress. We are all here to learn and pick a few things from one another as well as be inspired. Therefore, if you have celebrities you find impressive, pick one or two things from them and blend that in your style to bring out the elegance in you.
Have a signature item.
All you need is that one item that stands out. Example a furry trench coat, a nice pair of animal print boots, a designer bag.
If that ticks your style, make use of it…. :))
